Organized by the Newberg Downtown Coalition and the Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce, this one hour cleanup brings neighbors together to freshen up downtown Newberg in advance of First Friday. Volunteers gather at The Yellow House and can contribute for a quick 15 minutes or stay for the whole hour. Every bit of effort supports a cleaner, more welcoming downtown.

At The Common Cup, a monthly book club brings readers together for relaxed conversation and a shared love of books. An evening menu is available for purchase, with pizza by the slice, side salads, grilled sandwiches, and a selection of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. Each month focuses on a genre or theme chosen by random draw. Participants suggest titles that fit the next month’s theme, the suggestions go into a jar, and one book is drawn to set the following read. The group meets at the end of the month to discuss the selection. Attendance is flexible, so readers can come as time allows. A yearlong genre list is shared to give plenty of time to brainstorm titles, and the current reading lineup is posted on Instagram and Facebook for those who cannot make a meeting.

A performing group makes its debut at the McMinnville Scottish Highland festival, with multiple performances scheduled on both days. The group will appear several times each day, giving attendees many chances to see the act.

Set in the candlelit wine tunnels of Rex Hill Winery, this intimate evening blends gothic ambiance with a refined, multi course feast. Guests are invited to wear Regency inspired gothic attire and enjoy three courses served family style, a nod to the era’s dining customs. The menu is created by Chef Stephanie in collaboration with Rex Hill Chef Mark, with options available for special dietary needs. Attendance is limited to just 25 guests. Tickets are $85 and include dinner, wine, nonalcoholic beverages, and gratuity.

This relaxed open show is judged by Tina Bell and Kenny Strohecker. Daily high point awards are offered in English and Western for 10 and under walk trot, 13 and under, 14 to 17, 18 to 38, and 39 and over divisions. Series high point recognition is available for the same age groups, with eligibility requiring participation in at least two shows.

Enjoy a spooky themed 5K run and walk held at Newberg High School. The event supports Newberg High School’s Class of 2027 Grad Night, and registration is $45. Costumes are welcome and there will be a costume contest, but dressing up is optional. Participants may run or walk, and family and friends are welcome to take part. Vendors, along with the food truck and coffee chart, donate 15 percent of their day-of sales to the rescue to support its mission, so every purchase, snack, and sip helps raise more funds.
