The program spotlights Rev. Mary Lautzenhiser Bellon, Ph.D., who will share her poetry, including selections from her book Awakened Geographies. Bellon is an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church with many years of pastoral leadership and counseling experience. She served as lead pastor at Collegiate United Methodist Church and Wesley Foundation in Ames, Iowa, directed the Office of Pastoral Care and Counseling in Iowa for twenty years, and earlier served congregations near Albany, New York. Her academic background includes a Ph.D. from Claremont School of Theology, a Master of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, and dual B.A. degrees in English Literature and Women’s Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa. She has training in psychotherapeutic trauma recovery and graduate certificates in Contemplative Practices in a Clinical Setting from Smith College School of Social Work and in Professional Supervision from Louisville Presbyterian Seminary. Her poetry and fiction have appeared in publications such as Lyrical Iowa and Kakalak. This event is free and open to the public, and donations are appreciated.
