Hand Build Lil Fairy Houses & Mushrooms

Settle into a relaxed, hands-on clay workshop focused on hand building tiny fairy houses and whimsical mushrooms. Create pieces for potted plants, reptile habitats, desks, bookshelves, kitchen counters, or bathroom ledges, and craft something personal that can also make a thoughtful gift. Add details like texture imprints, windows, doors, flowers, and spots on mushroom tops to bring each design to life. The atmosphere welcomes everyone, whether brand new to clay or experienced, and the community studio setting centers on a positive, creative experience. Finished forms will become the backdrop for a variety of glazes. After the session, pieces dry for one week and are then kiln fired. After 1-2 full weeks, participants return to paint their pieces with no appointment needed. If preferred, the studio can glaze the work in a single chosen color upon request. The workshop includes all tools, clay, glaze, and two kiln firings. Age restrictions limit participation to adults and mature children. Each attendee must purchase a ticket to ensure seating availability. Wear sleeves that push above the elbows and keep jewelry easy to tuck away. Expect some clay splashes that wash out easily. Bringing a favorite drink is welcome. There are no refunds or exchanges, and participants must return to glaze within four weeks since items cannot be stored longer.

The route covers about 4 to 5 miles on paved paths at a social to moderate pace, with opportunities to regroup so no one is left behind. The plan is flexible. The group may loop the park, head to the boardwalk, continue toward the Wyndham Hotel or go south along the boards before returning. Optional stairs at the Old Cavalier Hotel add a bit of extra challenge for those who want it. Restrooms are available at Beach Garden Park and at select spots along the boardwalk. A shorter option is always possible, whether that means taking a break on a bench and waiting for the walkers to return or turning back at a comfortable point. Strollers are welcome, though anyone tackling the stairs will need to reconnect afterward. Dogs are permitted in Beach Garden Park, but pets are not allowed on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk during seasonal restricted hours, so plan with that in mind. Bring water, comfortable walking shoes, and something reflective or a small light in case dusk approaches. RSVPs are requested, please update your response if plans change, and try to arrive a little early to allow time for parking and finding the group. The host can be reached through Facebook Messenger. If weather or heat makes conditions unsafe, an update will be posted and the walk will be rescheduled.
