Ubuntu Rising, presented in partnership with Teens with a Purpose, is a culturally rooted wellness and healing series guided by the ubuntu philosophy, often phrased as “I am because we are.” Each gathering offers a calm, welcoming space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with self and community while supporting emotional well-being and easing stress. The experience blends movement, sound, poetry, and music to nurture belonging, cultural appreciation, and collective care. Sessions may feature gentle yoga or other somatic movement, reiki or energy healing, sound bath meditation, spoken word, live music or vocal performance, guided reflection with community dialogue, and a closing circle. This monthly series takes place at ViBe Park in the ViBe Creative District. No RSVP is required.

Set on the Virginia Beach oceanfront, this gathering blends a spirited community drum circle with a soothing soundscape meditation shaped by the sounds of the sea. It begins with shared rhythms and transitions into guided relaxation that encourages heart, mind, and spirit to settle into a calm, focused state. The sound journey features crystal chakra tuned singing bowls, resonant gongs, Shipibo icaros, and Karuna Reiki chanting and toning, offered with an intention of wellness and mindful manifestation. All ages are welcome, and participants are encouraged to bring a drum or other sound making instrument for the circle. For comfort, bring water, a yoga mat or towel, and a pillow, and note that the session is weather permitting. Parking is available nearby. A $5 love donation is requested.
