Along the boardwalk, more than two hundred artisans present handmade creations at a broad art and craft show, and Neptune’s International Sandsculpting Championship features twenty two remarkable works shaped by internationally renowned sculptors. Throughout the weekend, activities include Neptune’s 8k Race, Learn from the Pros sand clinics offered at no charge, Healthy Haven with free beach yoga and fitness sessions, Poseidon’s Playground family fun zone that is free to enjoy, Touch-A-Truck with no admission cost, and Dock Dogs with free viewing. Hear accounts of ghosts, pirates, shipwrecks, tragic ends, and stories of Blackbeard with whispers of buried treasure while covering about a mile. The experience lasts around one hour and begins where the Boardwalk meets 22nd Street at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children and can be purchased through the tour’s website. If the tour is canceled due to rain or low turnout, ticket holders will receive a full refund and an email notification. No refunds are offered for no shows. Themes include mature subject matter, so parents should decide whether the content is suitable for their children.

East Coast Hikers will take part in Neptune’s 8K at Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront with a brisk group walk covering the 8K distance, about 5 miles. Participants can keep a speedy walking pace or choose to run at their own pace. The group plans to gather before the start for a photo, head to the starting area together, and reconnect after finishing for a medal photo. Registration for Neptune’s 8K, including payment of the race fee, is required to participate.

Learn critical lifesaving skills in a hands-on, in-person American Heart Association BLS CPR and AED class in Virginia Beach.
