Don and Martha bring deep Appalachian roots spanning bluegrass, old time, folk, rural swing, classic country, and touches of jazz. Don plays a range of bluegrass instruments, while Martha anchors bass and vocals, and their musical toolkit includes autoharp, banjo, guitar, and Galax-style mountain dulcimer. They are members of America’s Old-Time Country Music Hall of Fame and recognized artists with Young Audiences of Virginia and the Virginia Commission for the Arts, and Don also teaches bluegrass instruments at Eastern Mennonite University.
