The program runs in all weather, so dress for conditions. Closed-toe footwear is recommended, and rain boots, water shoes, or old sneakers that can get wet and muddy are ideal. Bring water, sunscreen, layers, and a snack if needed. Expect about 60 to 90 minutes of exploration, with the option to head out early if necessary. Attendance is free, with a suggested donation of $2 per person or $5 per family. A Discover Pass is required for parking, $50 per year or $10 per day, available online ahead of time or at park pay stations. Park in designated spaces and display the pass. Meet in the grassy area near the picnic tables before the beach and look for staff and volunteers in blue. Late arrivals can find the group on the beach. The shoreline is gently sloped with cobble, gravel, sand, mud, and occasional boulders. Restrooms and drinking water are available.

This in-person fun run at Les Gove Park welcomes runners, walkers, and leisurely strollers of all ages and fitness levels. The course follows the park’s large loop, and five laps total just short of a 5K by 1,138 feet. After each lap, participants select a card and work toward the best five-card poker hand by the finish. Registration fees are $20 for early registration, $25 for standard registration, and $30 for on-site registration. Early registration includes a t-shirt and a participation medal, and payment is required at the time of registration. Strollers are welcome on the course, and children who are not in a stroller must be registered participants. Awards will be given to the top eight poker hands, with results shared by email and on social media. Parking details and additional event information will be emailed to participants.

LCNW’s annual Specialty and potluck picnic takes place at Nolte State Park as Leo Wonderland, a full day in the outdoors for Leonberger families and enthusiasts. The centerpiece is the LCNW Specialty, a European-style traditional club show with an entry fee, with juniors and peewees exempt. The schedule also features a free potluck picnic that is open to all with an RSVP, a no-cost fun course with trick stations, the LCNW annual meeting, and a raffle table that welcomes items from attendees. The fun course is suitable for Leonbergers of any age and includes stations that can count toward AKC Tricks. Participants record their dogs completing the exercises and submit the videos to an AKC evaluator. Premium and registration information will be available in early summer 2026. Show entries close in late July, and all forms and payments must be received by that deadline. A picnic-only option is offered for those not entering the show or not showing a Leonberger, and the park provides trails and a swimming lake for a relaxed day. Summer weekends are busy at Nolte State Park and parking often fills by mid morning, so arriving early and staying for the day is advised. Attendees should bring a snack or lunch and a potluck item to share. The barbecue potluck follows the show and the annual meeting.
