The speaker is Dr. Charity Urbanski, a Teaching Professor at the University of Washington whose work focuses on twelfth-century England and France, with research interests in historiography, gender, power, and monstrosity. She is the author of Writing History for the King: Henry II and the Politics of Vernacular Historiography. This is a free program with limited space, and an RSVP is requested. Plateau Pride is a community Pride festival in East Pierce County that began in 2022 to celebrate the launch and official coming out of Hope Development Practice, a community mental health agency and nonprofit. Past editions have welcomed about 500 participants and featured live music, food trucks, vendors with merchandise and service information, and a variety of activities. As the first event of its kind in rural Washington, it focuses on fostering openness, safety, and learning within families and neighborhoods. The gem show highlights raw and polished stones, precious gems, jewelry, copper wrapped pieces and home decor. Programming includes over 25 free talks, featured speakers, two free psychic panels, a panel in Spanish, and additional talks offered in Spanish. Some workshops require tickets, while admission, parking, many talks and select gifts are complimentary. ACE Northwest is organizing a farewell gathering at Wild Waves Theme & Water Park on the park’s last day of operation before closing permanently. It is an opportunity to show appreciation and say goodbye. Advance registration is required for headcount, and guests may attend as long as they are registered.
