There is no charge to work on your bike, and some parts are available, though you may need to purchase specific items if they are not on hand. A free King County community repair event is taking place at the Bellevue Library, where skilled volunteer fixers will examine and attempt to repair household items and clothing. Service is first come, first served for each person’s first item, and second items may be considered after everyone has had a turn. Typical repairs include small appliances and electronics, lamps, vacuums, toys, electric power tools, small furniture like chairs and drawers, jewelry, and textiles. Items should be reasonably clean. Staff may decline to work on any item depending on the repair needed, the expertise available, or other considerations. The event does not accept gasoline powered equipment, cell phones, tablets, microwaves, knife or tool sharpening, extensive reconstructive work, or major clothing alterations.
