Opti Beginner is a full-day, hands-on sailing camp focused on teaching the basics of sailing in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. Campers use stable Optimist sailboats to learn how to rig their boats, sail confidently with tacks and jibes, practice key safety skills like capsize recovery, and build comfort and independence on the water through games and activities both on and off the water. It is designed for ages 9 to 12 and helps prepare sailors to move on to Opti Intermediate or Advanced.

Young artists ages 6 to 11 can dive into the Mythical Creatures theme at Olympic Coast Creative during Week 5 of the Kids Summer Art Camp. Campers explore a variety of mediums such as clay handbuilding, pottery painting, glass fusing without any cutting, mosaics, canvas painting, and other hands-on projects. They work on multiple creations each day and take part in games and creative play. All supplies are provided, and families should send a labeled snack and a water bottle with a lid. Finished projects are ready for pick up afterward so kids can share their artwork. The cost is $165 for the week. Cancellations made 2 days or less before the camp start date are nonrefundable and typically are not eligible for a voucher. Cancellations made 3 or more days in advance will receive a voucher for a future class or workshop, with exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis.

The Plucking Posse returns for a second year of caring for the streets of the Waterfront District. Volunteers meet at the Fountain, then fan out along the area to pull weeds from planter beds, tree wells, sidewalk cracks, and curbs. The crew also tackles moss, algae stains, and other neglected messes to keep walkways clean. Bring gloves and, if possible, your own tools, since shared supplies are available but can run short. If the weather is bad, the outing is canceled. Latecomers can look for the group working somewhere along the Waterfront District streets.

Ladies' Night is a ladies-only event where you can relax, sharpen your shooting skills, and meet other women while learning to sling some hot lead and put holes in paper. Instructors may include men, but the focus is on respectful, courtesy-driven skill-building.

Elevate Outdoors partners with the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center for a full day that blends coastal exploration with creative expression. The morning features a kayak tour along the Strait of Juan de Fuca, weaving through kelp forests and seagrass meadows beside wind-shaped cliffs and the ever-shifting intertidal zone. Along the way there is a chance to see wildlife such as bald eagles overhead, bright sea stars and anemones beneath the water, and perhaps a seal or river otter. In the afternoon, the focus turns to art at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center’s Esther Webster Gallery. Participants receive a curator led introduction to the Kinship exhibition with PAFAC Gallery Curator Lindsey Shepherd, followed by a hands-on workshop guided by education staff. Using pressed seaweed, attendees learn how specimens are collected and pressed, then try gel printing techniques to create one-of-a-kind seaweed impressions. Everyone leaves with a finished gel print ready to display or frame.

Volunteer efforts focus on caring for Webster's Woods at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, working side by side with staff and other helpers to support the mission of maintaining outdoor spaces designed for community. In a place where art and the natural environment come together, individuals or community-based groups can contribute to keeping the woods easy to explore, attractive, and well cared for.
