APCC’s 29th Annual Polynesian Luau & Fundraiser brings island culture, food, and live entertainment to the Asia Pacific Cultural Center. The program highlights traditions of the Pacific through performances and cultural demonstrations, with a guest appearance by Kap Tafiti Te’o from the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, Hawaii. Expect music and dance representing Fiji, Tahiti, Tonga, Hawaii, New Zealand, Samoa, and Guam, along with fire knife dance presentations, hands-on arts and crafts, and door prizes. An extensive island feast features roasted pig, Chamorro chicken, sapasui chop suey, coconut baked fish, macaroni salad, fresh Samoa bread, fresh vegetable salad, steamed rice, Tongan ‘otai, fresh fruits, and island cake. Tickets are $100 per person, $1,000 for a table of ten, and $12.50 for children ages 4 to 11. Proceeds support Asia Pacific Cultural Center programs and cultural initiatives.

The Bonney Lake Triathlon returns to Allan Yorke City Park as the grand finale of the RTB Summer Race Series. The course features a swim with Mount Rainier in view, a bike leg through the rolling farmlands of Pierce County, and a run that leads to a lively finish line celebration. Race options include Super Sprint, Sprint, and Olympic distance triathlons, an Olympic Aquabike, and Sprint and Olympic relays. Each participant receives a unique finisher medal, a custom race tee, a hot meal, and free race photos. Podium finishers earn a custom pint glass, and TRIfecta Challenge finishers receive the TRIdent.

Launched in 2022 to celebrate the public debut of Hope Development Practice, a community mental health nonprofit, this Pride festival has grown into a recurring gathering in East Pierce County. By 2025 it reached its fourth annual edition and typically draws about 500 participants. The festival features live music, a variety of food trucks, vendors offering merchandise and community service information, and a range of activities. As the first event of its kind in rural Washington, it emphasizes openness, safety, and well informed families and communities. New this year, a no-cost ticketing and check-in process has been added to support safety. Participation includes acknowledging the importance of drag in LGBTQIA+ history and its longstanding place in theater, and recognizing that drag performances are part of the event.
