Design and build a luminous fused glass lantern, a creative experience that is great to share with a friend. No prior glass experience is required. You will begin with pre-cut fusible glass blanks and embellish four panels using materials like dichroic glass, stringers, frit, vitrograph, and murrini. All supplies are provided, the lantern itself is included, and kiln firing is handled for you. Support is available at every step so you can focus on creating a piece that reflects your style. After firing, your finished lantern will be ready for pickup in two weeks. This class is open to ages 16 and up, and any children must attend with a registered adult. There is nothing to bring.

This swing dance night at the Valiant Ballroom in Downtown Vancouver, Washington features instruction for both beginner and intermediate participants followed by social dancing. The curriculum rotates every other month. The beginner track cycles through 6-count Lindy Hop basics with attention to footwork, simple turns, and rhythm. It also covers partnered Charleston basics with footwork, variations, and clean entries and exits, 8-count Lindy Hop fundamentals, an introduction to swing-outs with a focus on footwork, rhythm, and body mechanics, and an introduction to the Shim Sham line dance. The intermediate track alternates between two rotations. One emphasizes closed connection with pulse and rock steps, clear preparation for turns and rotation in motion while managing speed and momentum, fast dancing with variations, refined swing-outs, and fancy footwork. The other focuses on open connection with push pull and lateral connection while exploring limits, momentum and direction in both lateral and rotational forms, how to distinguish between 6 and 8 counts, further swing-out refinement, and additional fancy footwork. The depth covered in each class adapts to the experience level of those present. Requests are welcome at the end of the lesson, and feedback on lesson content is encouraged. Lessons are $10 and include the social dance, the social alone is $5, and members receive both the lesson and social at no cost.
