    A Rural Halloween

Rural · Historic Village of Rural

    Free

This free, family friendly afternoon in the historic village of Rural introduces an inaugural Halloween celebration shaped by local residents with support from the Rural Historical Society. Expect a cozy, community focused atmosphere that favors rustic charm, hands on activities, and a gentle pace suitable for all ages. Live music by local band Boogie Sauce sets the tone while storytelling, poetry, games, hayrides, vintage tractors, local food and baked goods, and artisan vendors create plenty to explore. Trick or treating takes over the village, and a costume parade led by the local children's librarian adds to the fun. Main Street will be closed to traffic so kids can roam safely, and costumes are encouraged for everyone. Weller Studio presents the village's first official art show, featuring work by Davette Leonard, Terry Achten, Tammie Jo Berg, Dorothy Dewild, Bev Crane, and Cindy Kelm. Volunteers will be on hand to assist with parking and guide guests to the festivities. The celebration aims to honor Rural's historic character, bring neighbors and visitors together for a joyful afternoon, and plant the seeds of a new annual tradition. Sponsors include the Rural Historical Society, Weller Studio, the Woodpile Foundation, and Chain O' Lakes Litho.
