Set in the waning days of the 1980s on Hollywood’s Sunset Strip, the story follows Drew, a janitor with rock star dreams, and Sherri, a hopeful newcomer from Kansas, as they chase their futures at a famed club where Stacee Jaxx commands the spotlight and groupies flock to the scene. When developers from Germany arrive with plans to replace the gritty music haven with a strip mall, the community must rally to protect the soul of the Strip and their own aspirations. Compete in a three round matched play tournament at ISO Games with armies up to 2,000 points, run using the 2026–2027 General’s Handbook. The field is capped at 20 players, and the entry fee is $20. The day features check in and announcements, followed by two games, a lunch break with player voting for Best Painted, then a final game and awards. Prizes include $200 for first place, $100 for second, $50 for third, and $50 for Best Painted. Two spearheads will be given away by random drawing at the end, and players who take first through third or Best Painted are not eligible for those drawings. Army lists must be submitted in Best Coast Pairings and will be visible to opponents. If you cannot submit through BCP, contact the organizer. Battleplans will be announced later. Every table will have terrain set according to official maps for the selected missions, and the listed terrain traits will be used. Each game is expected to play through five turns or end with a clear result. If a match does not finish, players should discuss the outcome, and if no agreement is reached a judge will rule. Please enter scores in BCP promptly after each round. Repeated slow play may lead to penalties. Armies must meet a battle ready standard, with fully assembled models showing at least three distinct colors and painted, textured bases. 3D printed and third party models are welcome if they clearly represent the appropriate units. Get hands-on with a beginner friendly stained glass workshop that guides participants through creating a finished piece to take home. No prior experience is needed, and all materials and step by step instruction are provided. The session typically lasts about two to two and a half hours, depending on individual pace. Color choices vary based on the glass available, and each kit includes different options. Please note the space is not currently wheelchair accessible. There are three steps at the entrance, and the crafting area is small. Credit card reservations are handled through an online ticket link using Square. High-energy racing and derby action take over Wisconsin Valley Fair with the Dirt Dash as the focal point. The racing slate features the Dirt Dash, FWD and BWD, and Figure 8, with qualifying heats, consolation rounds, and feature races. Derby competition includes UDI Gut N' Go FWD and MWFA or Dirt Dash Style. Every class awards $1,000 to the winner along with a big check, and payouts and awards are presented to the top three. Registration and tech inspection are part of the entry process. The entry fee is $60 and covers all events, and a $50 late fee applies for late registration. Practice sessions and a Powerwheels segment are planned in addition to the main racing program.

Ducks are $20 each or $100 for a flock of six, and tickets are sold in person at the Children’s Imaginarium front desk. While supplies last, tickets will also be available at the venue. Spectators are welcome to watch from the riverbank, enjoy the festivities, and cheer as the ducks head downstream. Admission is free and suitable for all ages. City of Wausau residents can take part in a large item drop-off that requires proof of residency. Many bulky household items are accepted at no charge, including furniture such as tables, chairs, sofas, and dressers, bedding components like mattresses and box springs, kitchen and laundry pieces like stoves, washers, dryers, dishwashers, and microwaves, as well as grills. Yard equipment is also accepted if all fluids are removed, for example snow blowers, lawn mowers, trimmers or edgers, and rototillers. Scrap metal is welcome. Some items have a disposal fee, payable in cash. Tire drop-off costs $5 each for sizes up to 20 inches and $10 each for tires over 20 inches. Most electronics are taken at $0.49 per pound, including computers, fax machines, printers, televisions, small corded appliances like coffee makers and vacuum cleaners, stereos, and similar items with a cord. Certain appliances carry a $25 fee each, including dehumidifiers, air conditioners, refrigerators, and freezers. Working medical equipment is being collected at no cost in partnership with Good News Project’s Health Equipment Lending Program. Requested items include bath or shower chairs, rolling walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, canes, toilet seat risers, commodes, bed rails, bathtub grab bars, and knee walkers or scooters. The following are not accepted: light bulbs, smoke or carbon monoxide detectors, batteries, paint, chemicals, used oil, antifreeze, remodeling debris such as insulation or fiberglass, roofing materials, lead, fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides, compressed gas cylinders, or anything explosive. Harvest Fest 2026
Celebrate a well-loved fall tradition as Harvest Fest returns with free family fun for all ages. Children 12 and under can take home a free pumpkin with a donation to Peyton's Promise. Activities include a full petting zoo, more than twenty children's stations and nonprofit booths with games, and a celebrity pumpkin carving competition. Downtown businesses will host trick-or-treating, and kids who come in costume can win prizes. Admission is free for families. The festival is presented by Wausau Events, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
400 BlockIn-Studio 8-Week Fall Belly Dance Series: Beginner + Intermediate & Advanced
Take part in an in-studio 8-week fall belly dance series led by Anna Nummelin of Wausau Belly Dance, with options for beginners and for intermediate and advanced students. New and returning dancers are welcome. The beginner course introduces foundational technique with gentle, enjoyable practice that highlights body isolations for the shoulders, chest, arms, and hips. It also serves as a helpful refresher for experienced dancers, and no prior experience is required. The intermediate and advanced class builds on the fundamentals from the beginner level through drills that develop strength, stamina, posture, and technique, with an emphasis on choreography and performance. Prior belly dance experience is required, special permission is needed to enroll, and completing the beginner course at least three times is recommended before moving up. Each 8-week series is priced at $105. Series purchases are final. If 5 Koshas or the event presenter cancels, a refund will be issued or a rescheduled date will be offered.
