A park sticker is required for parking and can be obtained at the Ranger Station kiosk or online. Parking is available near the amphitheater. Topics include safe use of equipment, preventing and handling common kitchen incidents, basic first aid for minor cuts and burns, proper sanitation and food safety, avoiding cross contamination, managing cooking times and safe temperatures, following and adapting recipes, planning meals, shopping on a budget, reading labels and price tags, storing food correctly, managing leftovers, and using adapted methods and tools to increase independence. The course also addresses recognizing emergencies, creating a contact card, knowing when to ask for help, and strategies for staying focused with fewer distractions while cooking. Parents, guardians, and caregivers are encouraged to attend at no extra cost. Support persons learn how to foster independence with appropriate supervision, decide when to adjust support, safely include individuals in everyday cooking, respond calmly in both emergency and non-emergency situations, and connect with other families and caregivers. The program emphasizes confidence, life skills, and meaningful connections in a warm, welcoming environment.
