Free events in West Allis, WI

This one-day festival centers on traditional Indigenous arts, culture, and community, and it is free and open to all. Expect live music and other performances, a wide range of Native artists and vendors showcasing and selling their creations, and plenty of family-friendly fun. Food and drinks are available, and there are games, face painting, and free art activities for every age group. As a grassroots effort, the festival invites donations to support its programming and to fairly compensate workers, singers, and performers. Deer District hosts a farmer’s market run by Lauryn Wynter Company and supported by Deer District BID 53. Each week, more than 100 vendors gather with fresh, organic meats, eggs, fruits, cheeses and vegetables, along with bakery items, arts and crafts and live entertainment. Visitors can enjoy free live music, relax in comfortable seating and choose from a wide range of ready-to-eat foods. The Taste It Tent features rotating samples of new items available from market vendors, and a kids area offers games and activities for families. Tenants in Deer District are also open alongside the market for brunch or lunch. SNAP/EBT, WIC and Senior Nutritional Vouchers are accepted.

Get moving outdoors at Cathedral Square Park with a rotating lineup of community fitness classes. Sessions are free and open to all, featuring options like Body Circuit with Akeeta, Zumba with Dominique, and Tai Chi with Kim. Bring a water bottle and dress for the weather. The summer Sopra Mare concert series returns to the Villa courtyard, featuring music from Milwaukee musicians and handcrafted drinks from Crave Cart. Guests can relax with a book or share the experience with a friend for a Sunday to remember. This event is free and open to all, and the museum and gardens also offer free admission during Sopra Mare. Printed concert calendars are available at the Villa reception desk.

Families can enjoy a special offer where children ages 12 and under receive a complimentary kids entrée, valued up to $15, with the purchase of an adult entrée. The offer is limited to one free kids entrée for each adult entrée ordered and cannot be combined with other promotions, specials, or dip certificates. It is not available on holidays.

The Corners brings back its free, family-friendly outdoor movie nights presented by Aspire Dance Center, turning Market Square into an open-air theater with a 20-foot screen. This installment features Tangled and includes a meet and greet with the Tower Princess, face painting, and sweet treats available for purchase from Wood'r Ice. Sponsors and vendors will be on site to visit before the film.

Jazz in the Park, presented by Johnson Financial Group, brings free live music to Cathedral Square Park with a night themed Dead on the Square featuring Deadelijk. The series combines its jazz foundation with a few fan-favorite themes that span blues, swing, Billy Joel, Grateful Dead tributes, and goth dance music. This event is free and open to everyone. Cathedral Square Market runs alongside the music with local vendors offering art, handmade goods, treats, and more. Specialty drinks are available at the bar, and food from local vendors can be purchased on site. Buying drinks from the bar helps support the series.

Marking its 45th year, WMMC presents an evening car show at City CDJRF with a shine-after-dark atmosphere. Spectator admission is free. Vehicle entrants pay a $10 registration fee, with discounted rates available to WMMC members. Food and drinks will be available, and attendees can browse club merchandise and souvenirs. Judging will cover 12 classes and will be conducted later in the event. A backup date is planned if weather does not cooperate.
