A Recovery Circle highlights every step of the recovery journey, from the first day to many decades. Free temporary tattoos, photo opportunities, refreshments, and more will be available. With strong community backing since 2016, NOMA has grown from a grassroots effort into a robust nonprofit dedicated to reducing stigma and strengthening the recovery community.

The day concludes with a visit to The People’s Patch Madison County Community Farm to walk through established plantings and talk through real-world decisions in the field. Featured speakers include Mr. David Buehler of Elder Farms in Missouri, a leader in organic commercial elderberry production; Dr. Olufemi (Femi) Ajayi of Alabama State University, an entomologist focused on IPM, biological control, and sustainable crop protection; Mr. Holt Akers-Campbell of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System at Auburn University, a commercial horticulture Extension agent whose work emphasizes sustainable fruit and vegetable systems and agroforestry while he pursues doctoral research on Passiflora incarnata; and Dr. Clement Akotsen-Mensah of Alabama A&M University, an entomologist and IPM specialist who translates research into practical, environmentally responsible solutions for growers with a particular interest in elderberries. This program is supported by a SARE-funded project, OS25-185, evaluating the sustainability of soft fruit and berry production in Alabama. No Boundaries is an eight week, beginner friendly 5K program created for people who are new to running or walking, including those who have been inactive. It is nationally organized and recognized, sponsored by New Balance, and offered at Fleet Feet stores across the country. While it focuses on beginners, all walkers and runners are welcome, and the program is inclusive of every shape, size, and speed. This session is for the Madison PM group only. Participants receive weekly group training sessions, informational newsletters, a day by day training schedule, and educational clinics. Group sessions take place on Monday and Wednesday at Fleet Feet Madison. The goal event is the Liz Hurley 5k, and race registration is separate. There is no program fee.
