Verde Canyon Railroad partners with Liberty Wildlife in Phoenix to offer an up-close look at birds of prey at the depot. On select dates each month, Liberty volunteers present rescued animals used for education to passengers gathered on the patio before the afternoon train departs, featuring species like hawks, owls, falcons, vultures, and eagles. Everyone is welcome. Please note that during June, July, and August, the focus shifts to Reptiles at the Rails.

Camp under the dark skies of Sunset Crater National Monument at the O’Leary Group Campground, West Loop, for a weekend focused on stargazing and easy exploration. Costs are shared evenly among campers, estimated at about 30 to 35 dollars per tent or camper for the weekend. Those who prefer four walls will find plenty of hotel options in Flagstaff, and all services are located there. This weekend coincides with the peak of the Perseids meteor shower, offering excellent opportunities for night sky viewing. During the day, enjoy several easy walking trails within the monument. The Grand Canyon National Park South Rim, east entrance, is approximately 70 miles away for anyone considering a side trip. Hosts plan to provide chilidogs on Friday night and will bring wood for a shared fire pit. Individual fires are not allowed. Drinking water is available at the campground, and participants should bring whatever they need for a comfortable getaway along with a side dish for Friday if possible. At roughly 7,000 feet in elevation, expect cool nights and pleasant days. From Flagstaff, travel north on US 89, then turn onto the Sunset Crater Volcano-Wupatki Loop Road and continue to the O’Leary campground.

The Orpheum is a historic indoor venue in the heart of downtown, and the event is open to all ages. Please plan for venue guidelines. There is no on-site parking. Buying at the box office costs the same as purchasing online. A full bar and concessions will be available, and outside food or beverages are not allowed. Empty, soft, clear water bottles are permitted, while metal, hard plastic and insulated bottles are not. Unless otherwise noted by the show, re-entry is not allowed. A clear bag policy will be enforced. Guests may bring a clear stadium bag up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches or a one-gallon clear zip bag. Small non-clear wristlets up to 4 by 6 by 1 inches are allowed, and diaper or medical bags are permitted and subject to search. No other bags are allowed and the theater does not offer bag storage. Clear bags can be purchased at the venue.
