This weekend in New Castle, IN

At Westside Park, an annual cleanup focuses on the White River. Since 2006, volunteers have removed roughly 150,000 pounds of debris along with nearly a thousand tires while covering about 135 miles of river. With participation nearing 5,000 people, it is Delaware County’s largest single-day volunteer event. The cleanup area extends from the former Indiana Steel and Wire Plant to Canoe Country in Daleville.

This event is open to Jeeps, trucks, motorcycles, as well as classic and antique vehicles. Registration is $10 per vehicle. Proceeds will fund the construction of a new community park.

Presented by Henry Community Health, this community race day features a 1/2 mile fun run/walk along with 5K, 10K, and 13.1 mile options, all beginning and ending in the historic heart of New Castle, Indiana. The shortest loop circles much of the downtown area. The 5K travels along Broad Street, continues up and down Main Street to Baker Park, then returns to the finish. The 10K and 13.1 mile courses incorporate the Wilbur Wright Trail. Open to all ages and abilities, it welcomes both runners and walkers.

Honor the life and kite-making talent of Indiana’s Merritt Beck at Flying Site 5, a location recognized as one of the top kite-flying fields in the state. An auction will feature multicolor ribbon and tube tails crafted by Merritt, with payment accepted in cash or by check only. Afterward, the club will provide an off-site meal for current members.

Winners spin the Commander Prize Wheel for possibilities that include Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, store credit, sleeves and accessories, Commander staples, promo cards, and mystery prizes. Players arrive with finely tuned decks or laid-back builds, and the emphasis stays on friendly games and community. These free casual sessions take place every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

At New Castle Armory, the New Castle Henry County Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual Cash Bonanza, the signature fundraiser on the Chamber calendar.
