The YMCA Young Leaders Luncheon at Kentucky Wesleyan College celebrates local high school seniors who embody integrity, excellence, and a drive to make a difference in their community. Recognition of these young leaders has taken place since 2008.

The Owensboro KY Reptile and Exotics Show returns at its new home, the Owensboro Convention Center, hosted by Mayo’s Morphs. Explore thousands of animals and displays, including reptiles, amphibians, arachnids, and small mammals, plus rodent and insect feeders, pet supplies, rocks and minerals, art, decor, and other unique finds. The event is family friendly, whether you are there to learn about these remarkable creatures or to add a new member to a carefully maintained collection. Admission is $5 per person, and children 4 and under are free. For everyone’s comfort and safety, personal pets should stay at home, and only properly trained service dogs are allowed inside.

This youth-focused showcase features The Blue Bridge Boys, Allison and Michael Hoover, Mackenzie Bell, Emmie Kate Williams, Wade Papineau, and The Footstompin Express Cloggers. Young performers bring bluegrass, country, folk, Irish, and gospel to the stage alongside traditional clogging. Griffith Avenue brings classic rock to the Overlook Stage at Smothers Park as part of L!VE on the Banks, the free concert series presented by the City of Owensboro. Set along the downtown Owensboro riverfront, this performance offers a relaxed atmosphere for live music. Attendees can bring a chair and enjoy the setting while the band plays classic rock.

The Owensboro boys JV soccer team will play an away conference match against Apollo. The game is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Apollo High School.
