Healthpark offers a supervised small group program called Fall Prevention, also known as B.A.S.E. Balance Awareness Stability Everywhere. Over 12 weeks, participants focus on gait, balance, stability, and muscle strength with the goal of reducing the risk of falls. Eligibility requirements include being able to walk without heavy reliance on a walker or other mobility aids, committing to two one-hour classes each week throughout the 12-week series, and attending six educational sessions that include shared medical visits during the same timeframe. A physician must provide medical clearance for participation. Pre-program testing is used to confirm candidacy, and follow-up assessments are completed afterward to track improvement. In a pilot group, individuals who finished the course reported fewer falls, greater confidence with less fear of falling, and improvements in strength, stamina, and endurance. Program cost is based on the insurance amount for six co-pays to a regular family medical provider. These co-pays cover the six individual education sessions and the shared medical appointments with the Lifestyle Medicine Physician.
