Each week, the Waltham Farmers' Market brings together more than thirty five vendors offering seasonal fruits and vegetables, mushrooms, meat, dairy, seafood, baked goods, coffee, and other items. The market operates in any weather.

The Charles River Jazz Festival returns to Boston’s Hatch Memorial Shell with a bigger stage and additional space to welcome more artists and vendors while keeping the familiar vibe. This free and family friendly celebration offers a full day of live jazz, food, creativity, and community, bringing together world class performers and standout talent from the local scene. The main stage features Ghost-Note, Tyreek McDole, Seba Molnar, Zahili Zamora, BT ALC Big Band, and Roella Oloro.

A weekly, free outdoor yoga session at Cambridge Common offers an accessible, all-levels Flow and Restore practice beneath the shade of old-growth trees, followed by relaxed time to connect and unwind in community. Participants are encouraged to bring water, a yoga mat, a towel, sunglasses, and any preferred props. Iced tea from Cambridge Naturals will be available.

Part of the Longfellow Summer Arts Festival, this poetry reading, offered in partnership with the New England Poetry Club, gathers community and verse on the lawn of Longfellow House. Marie Howe, recipient of the 2026 Golden Rose Award for Poetry, appears as the author of New and Selected Poems from W. W. Norton, a 2024 collection that brings together work from four earlier books. She served as New York State Poet Laureate from 2012 to 2014, is poet in residence at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, and is a chancellor of the Academy of American Poets. Her debut, The Good Thief, was selected for the National Poetry Series by Margaret Atwood, who praised its intensity that rises beyond dark beginnings, and the book received the Lavan Younger Poets Prize, with Stanley Kunitz noting its spacious lines that explore the mysteries of body and spirit. Howe has taught at Sarah Lawrence College, Columbia University, and NYU, coedited with Michael Klein the anthology In the Company of My Solitude: American Writing from the AIDS Pandemic, and earned fellowships from the Bunting Institute at Radcliffe, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Guggenheim Foundation, the Academy of American Poets, and the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. This event is free and open to everyone.

At Jill Brown Rhone Park, dancers gather for an open-air celebration of Cuban-style Rueda de Casino. A complimentary lesson welcomes all levels, followed by social dancing that continues until sundown. No partner or prior experience is required. Expect lively music, ruedas of different sizes, friendly faces, and an easygoing summer atmosphere. Updates about weather-related changes or cancellations are posted on Facebook and Instagram.

Saborcito brings a free Latin dance class and social to The Anchor Boston, presented by The Anchor Boston, Sabor Latino, Salsa y Control, and DJ Hernan. The evening begins with a salsa lesson, then flows into dancing in the venue’s open-air courtyard with comfortable lounge seating, freestanding tables, and a bar, all with views of Boston from the Charlestown Naval Yard. There is no cover and street parking is available. Attendees are asked to RSVP and register in advance. To participate in the class, plan to arrive on time. Outside food and drinks, including water bottles, are not permitted. Only small crossbody bags are allowed inside, and complimentary bag check is provided. The event is free and open to the public.

Hannah Judson appears at Zuzu at The Middle East in Cambridge for a laid back midweek evening. Dinner and drinks are available in a relaxed setting, and there is no cover charge.

At TD Garden, the 15th Annual Back-to-School Celebration welcomes families to pick up essential resources for students, including backpacks, school supplies, winter coats, and more before the return to the classroom. Registration is required and spots are limited. Last year, 3,500 Boston-area families received support through a collaboration with TD Garden, The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division, and the City of Boston. Over the past decade, TD Garden in the Community has provided more than 56,000 backpacks to the Greater Boston community. Sponsorship and volunteer opportunities are available.

At Central Square Park, this weekly market highlights fresh, locally sourced food and neighborhood programs. Operated by NeighborHealth since 2008, it focuses on community health and supporting the local food system. Find seasonal produce from area farms, raw local honey, fresh bread, coffee, tea, and ready-to-eat options like Mexican elotes. Each week also brings local handcraft vendors and community organizations sharing free resources. Families can look for kids activities such as POP Club and Summer Eats, which provides free meals for children. Opening day features a cooking demonstration with free samples and live music, alongside a variety of food and artisan vendors. It is a place to stock up on groceries, grab a bite, and enjoy time in the park in a welcoming setting for all.

Restore your energy with an outdoor yoga session set among Chris Burden’s Light of Reason at the museum entrance. Brandeis Fitness Coordinator Kat Page leads a welcoming workshop that is free to attend and suitable for all fitness levels. Please bring a water bottle, a yoga mat, and comfortable workout clothing; a mat can be provided if arranged in advance. Registration is limited to 40 participants. The session depends on the weather and will be canceled if conditions are poor.

Music Bingo at CanalSide Food + Drink in CambridgeSide turns familiar tunes into a quick, social game. Cards list song titles and artists rather than numbers, and a DJ plays the tracks while participants listen and mark matches. Two or three speedy rounds keep the momentum high, and prizes are awarded in each round. There is no cost to participate. Completing a line of five squares across, down, or diagonally earns a Bingo. The format suits casual music fans and competitive players alike, creating an easygoing outing with plenty of feel good hits and friendly competition.
