Calling all word lovers for an afternoon of friendly competition and brain-teasing fun. Test your vocabulary with Scrabble, Boggle, and a selection of additional word games provided on site. Participants can drop in without advance registration, and all materials are available for play.

Families are invited to the Children’s Museum of the East End for the annual Big Truck Day, a favorite tradition that lets kids get up close to the large trucks and moving machines they see around the East End. Children can climb aboard, explore the vehicles, and take a closer look at how they work, creating a hands-on experience that sparks curiosity and excitement.

Family Day features hands-on art workshops, kid-friendly tours of the galleries led by the Teen Arts Council, and performances by local student artists in the Hilarie and Mitchell Morgan Theater. Kids’ Night Out offers a relaxed evening for children with movies, snacks, and pizza, along with hands-on crafts and activities. It is designed for kids in grades 1 through 5. The session costs $30 and includes pizza, water, a juice box, snacks, activities, and movies. A $10 fee applies for late pick ups. Opportunities are available for older students too. Middies in grades 6 to 8 can apply to be Student Leaders for community service, and Bigs in grades 9 to 12 can apply to be Teaching Assistants with pay ranging from $17 to $20 per hour.
