The “Sag Harbor in the Revolution” symposium is a day of presentations bringing together scholars and historians to explore the British occupation of Long Island from 1776 through 1783, a major turning point in Sag Harbor’s history.

A Grammy nominee on trombone who also composes, arranges, and teaches, Herwig is active in straight ahead jazz and Afro Latin styles, with credits that include work alongside Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, Paquito D’Rivera, Joe Henderson, Tom Harrell, and Clark Terry. Inspired by his long-running Latin Side concept, the set reframes music associated with Davis and Coltrane through Afro Caribbean and Latin jazz grooves, with contemporary rhythm, improvisation, and tight ensemble interplay offering new angles on themes from pivotal recordings and a lasting legacy. This performance will be recorded for future broadcast on WLIW-FM.

GRAMMY recipient and trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti takes the stage for an evening of refined artistry, heartfelt expression, and superb musicianship. At Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor, the Tony-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen is presented in a close-up staging that draws the audience into the heart of the story. A reading of poems with a book signing featuring poet and author Dee Slavutin, spotlighting her collection Suddenly Deciduous from Finishing Line Press. Slavutin is the author of two full-length collections, including Wingspan: Search for Food. She holds a master’s in literature from McGill University and an MBA in finance from Fordham University. While at McGill she founded the poetry magazine Cyan Line and served as its editor. Her work earned a grant from the Ruth Weiss Foundation as a finalist for the poem Aging in Haiku, and she curated the East Hampton Poetry Marathon for five years, a summer series of readings. Beyond poetry, she led a boutique financial services firm for more than three decades. She lives in East Hampton and New York City with her husband, Lee, and their two grown children. Inspired by long walks along Gardiner’s Bay, the Atlantic, and Riverside Park, she embraces the concise, fluid nature of verse and revises until the story feels complete, always striving for the level of effort that brings integrity to creative work.

Spin Cycle delivers a collaborative approach to contemporary jazz, weaving adventurous improvisation with groove centered compositions and close knit ensemble communication. The program spotlights guitarist and composer Pete McCann, whose decades of experience shape a voice that bridges straight ahead traditions, modern creative currents, and rhythmically rich ideas. McCann, a New York based performer, composer, and educator, has appeared onstage and on record with David Liebman, Kenny Werner, Joey Baron, and the Maria Schneider Orchestra, and he has released numerous projects as both a leader and a collaborator. The set features original material, open improvisation, and energetic group interplay, grounded in contemporary jazz with a focus on modern rhythmic exploration. The performance is outdoors and chairs are provided. If it rains, the concert will be canceled. This concert will be recorded for future broadcast on WLIW-FM.

A free open-air concert at the Westhampton Beach Village Green celebrates pop favorites spanning the decades. The Chiclettes present a tribute to female artists, with Bobby Wilson also taking the stage.

Part of the 37th Annual Gazebo Concert Series presented by the Westhampton Free Library and the Friends of the Westhampton Free Library, Bobby Wilson & The Chiclettes deliver a showcase that moves from classic soul to iconic pop, highlighted by a tribute to Bobby’s father, R&B legend Jackie Wilson.
