    Open water swimmers gather at Safe Harbor Pier 121 for a coached training session with the Playtri Open Water Club, a long-running weekly program in the DFW area. Participants can choose between two coached groups that focus on skill development and longer-distance swimming, with a lifeguard and watercraft providing on-water safety throughout the session. Current Playtri athletes attend at no cost, while others can drop in for a $10 cash fee, with electronic payments not accepted. A brightly colored swim cap is required. Wetsuits are required when the water is below 60 degrees, with limited exceptions for those with significant cold-water experience. Swims take place in rain, but are canceled for thunder, lightning, or unsafe wind, and will only be held when the reported water temperature is above 56 degrees Fahrenheit. Weather-related updates are shared on the event page at least an hour before the planned start. Please meet in the parking lot east of the RV park and arrive a little early for a prompt kickoff. Printed OWS and Playtri online waivers are required to participate.
