The long-running duo of Kristian Dunn and Tim Fogarty marks 23 years together with Nowhere Faster, their sixteenth release, an eight-track, 33-minute album that dwells on momentum, uncertainty, and what keeps us moving. The record expands their sound with real strings and piano and includes writing for two drummers that pushed Fogarty to new challenges, while Dunn shifts from electric bass on the first half to processed acoustic bass on the second. Titles on the album include Uncanny Valley Girl, Bjork’s Alarm Clock, Last Night In The Kitchen, and So It Goes, touching everything from taut, rhythm-centered drive to twang-tinged contemplation. The project follows their longest stretch away from touring and recording and features artwork by longtime collaborator Rob Fleming that evokes liminal spaces and blurred motion.
